One of the core services of the Africa Development Studies Center (ADSC) is to provide world-class non-educational or academic, accredited training programs for top Managers and Executives. Our management development programs courses cut across every sector which empowers decision-making, leadership and management, and digital adoption to name a few. ADSC has several broad categories of Programs. Our Certificated courses can lead Participants to formal, licensed, Professional, and or Practice Certification by national/international Bodies in many development fields.
Program 1: Management and Leadership
There are fifteen (15) courses under our management and leadership program. These courses target top-level managers and executives who want to gain cutting-edge skills in team building and management and on how to improve staff performance and strategic leadership. Senior managers and executives who had participated in this program over the years were able to birth innovative ideas, developed sustainable succession plans, deepen their understanding of the corporate vision for better performance targets and assessments, strengthened business growth, and successfully introduced strategic change.
Program 2: Finance, Accounting, and Budgeting
This program focuses on financial management for leaders and executives at all levels from community leaders to chief executives either at public institutions or private enterprises, the skill sets for the program are relevant. Courses under this program offer our participants a good command and application of financial stability and performance. In addition, as more is required of managers because complex financial dealings are the order of the day, the course enables participants to monitor and evaluate people, processes, and technology in enhancing their financial safeguards.
Program 3: Human Resource Management
The most important resource in any Organisation is widely believed to be its Human Resources. Attaining Organisational goals and importantly a Purpose is largely depending on human talents and their possibilities. These being available on their own is however not sufficient enough to bring about desired levels of Performance. This resource needs to be led intentionally toward both the short and longer terms. Hence Tactical understanding and deliberate guidance and enhancement of human resources in an Organisation can be said to be a critical activity.
This course, therefore, enables deliberate and strategic channelling of people in Organisations, their behaviours, and contributions towards the maximal yielding of potential and Talent. This in-depth program aims to sharpen the organizational skills of talent development professionals, to enable them to plan effectively and coordinate training and human development events. It will also give human resource managers a means of identifying causes of workers’ inefficiency and adopting modern technology and other traditional models in phasing out barriers to work performance and productive culture.
Program 4: Project, Procurement, and Contracts
This program has a tripartite feature with not less than 12 different courses and they ensure delegates understand the critical role of projects and project Agents / Managers, having ideal approaches in Organisations. Present-day Organisational demands require and expect employees, and Managers to take on multiple assignments, and to get those done well, under budget, and on time. Participants in this course will be exposed to areas such as overall time plans, project governance and business cases, and managing various stakeholders amongst many other things. The need to create a basis/business case and build a project time plan toward achieving these are central to Organisational life. Critical path analysis, assigning and managing resources, establishing project gates, controls, and milestones within set timelines, and achieving KPIs are central and essential to Organisations’ performances.
Besides the project aspects of this program, procurement courses also give this program a boost in which our past participants did attest to the usefulness of courses like effective supply chain management, building business relationships through procurement, and warehouse management to their work and professional development.
The contracting arm of this program broadens participants’ knowledge of Contract Management, as well as helps delegates acquire special skills in the field. The course also helps participants build networks and allows managers, Practitioners, and focused persons to enhance themselves and in so doing, such persons looking to promote their careers.
Program 5: Secretarial and Administration
The program helps high-potential senior management and leaders, and public / government or private sector employees to enhance themselves and their leadership skills, thus fast-tracking their careers. “The Leader” Program, is thus geared to help such high-potential employee skill enhancement in three areas – leading self, leading others, and leading the future. Participants thus can learn from experts, benchmark with others and widen their knowledge, and experiences.
This program includes courses that teach practices that perfect the art of etiquette and international protocols in the organisation, strengthen the skills and competencies of senior management, and provide service excellence in public administration and leadership for senior officials.
Program 6: PR, Customer Services, Sales and Marketing
This program acquaints participants with intelligent customer service orientation, that helps the realisation of an Organisation’s vision toward service and or product excellence. Participants are enhanced to build their customer servicing skills by identifying the best local and international practices through various Organisational, governmental, and Industry customer experiences, and customer and stakeholder care. Participants gain a deeper understanding of customer data analysis and reports and are therefore able to better develop and manage customer and stakeholder experience, leading to the improvement of such experiences.
This program includes courses on E-business Development and Management, Ensuring Service Excellence Amongst Civil Servants, Building and Ensuring a Culture and Practice of Excellence, and Service Response and “S M A R T” Practices in Organisations.
Program 7: Oil and Gas
This program is designed for non-technical staff who are in the oil and gas industry. It provides an introductory overview of the worldwide and Nigerian oil and gas industry (upstream), including the NNPC Group of Companies.
In this program, courses on oil contract and vendor management, oil and gas industry overview, and energy for the future are thought, mainstreaming sustainable energy and natural resource management principles and practices.
Program 8: Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
This program covers a wide range of sectors and provides an opportunity for leaders, policymakers, and top-level managers to acquaint themselves with the necessary skills for striking a balance and successful partnership that meets the demands of the state, businesses, and people. From community development to environmental-related issues, PPP project vehicles are pivotal and this program develops a series of courses that meet the technical knowledge gaps and sectoral analysis update requirements.
Program 9: Safety, Electrical, and Power Engineering
The program focuses on the requirements of conducting a Risk management audit based on ISO 31000 and utilizing the audit process as per ISO 19011 requirements. It also considers areas of decent work involving hazard prevention and electrical dangers among workers. Overall, this program provides managers who lead in electrical and power installations with applied knowledge in global best practices in hazard management for workers and equipment.
Program 10: Anti-Corruption
Arguably, Corruption can be said to hinder sustainable development in countries. This program aims at strengthening the competencies required for overcoming some of the challenges to combat corruption, its causes, and consequences for sustainable development. The course also tries to understand the benefits of promoting its prevention. Also, its relationship to development, the rule of law, and human rights are highlighted in the course. To tackle its root causes and consequences as well as to find solutions for prevention, accountability, and redress, the impact of mainstreaming knowledge is a powerful approach towards transforming the lives of individuals and societies as a whole.
